Request for Proposals: Leatherback Tag Head and Power Assisted Deployment Device Development (Proposals due by Dec. 6, 2021)
The Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council (Council) is soliciting proposals for contractual services listed below.
CONTRACT SERVICE: Leatherback Tag Head and Power Assisted Deployment Device Development
CONTRACT PERIOD: The contract period is expected to be approximately one year beginning on or around December 15, 2021.
SCOPE OF WORK: The Contractor will work closely with PIFSC to refine the design of a direct attachment tag head and develop a power assisted pole deployment device suitable for vessel-side tag deployments on leatherback turtles in the Hawaii longline fishery. The Contractor will assist PIFSC researchers in testing the prototype direct attachments and pole deployments, modify prototypes as necessary in consultation with PIFSC researchers based on testing outcomes; and supply prototype tags and deployment devices for testing.
ELIGIBILITY: The potential contractor must:
- Have a demonstrated ability to design and fabricate machine parts for ocean-based deployments;
- Have prior experience designing tag heads for marine species;
- Be available to start the project on or around December 15, 2021; and
- S. Federal agencies and their employees are not eligible for contractual agreements with the Council.
