Main Hawaiian Islands 2010-2011 Bottomfish TAC
NMFS published a final rule for the MHI 2010-2011 Deep 7
bottomfish TAC, specifying the TAC at 254,050 lbs (115,235 kg).
The final decision was made at the June 2010 Council meeting and
published in the federal register on September 1, 2010. See the
Federal Register notice for more details.
Petition to List 83 Species of Corals as Threatened or
Endangered
NMFS announced a 90-day finding on a petition to list 83 species
of corals as threatened or endangered under the ESA on February 10,
2010. Status reviews for 82 species of corals was initiated to
determine if listing under the ESA is warranted. Comments were due
April 12, 2010. For further

Listing of 9 Loggerhead Sea Turtle DPSs as Endangered or
Threatened
NMFS determined that the loggerhead sea turtle is composed of 9
distinct population segments (DPSs) that qualify as "species" for
listing as endangered or threatened under the ESA. NMFS proposes
to list 2 as threatened and 7 as endangered. For more information,

Federal Register notice published on March 16, 2010. The

Notice) has been extended to September 13, 2010.
Petition to List Bumphead Parrotfish and Threatened or
Endangered
NMFS announced a 90-day finding on a petition to list bumphead
parrotfish as threatened or endangered and designate critical habitat
under the ESA. NMFS initiated a status review to determine if listing is
warranted. Comments were due May 3, 2010. For more information, see the
Federal Register notice published April 2, 2010.
